Slow-cooking; slow radio – how to have all the clock time you need?
We currently live in a ‘microwave-society’ with instant news, instant messages, instant sharing, fast food, fast track, fast lane, the famous rush hour.
We expect the now. We want to get everywhere quicker. And we demand time to ourselves as well.
Our assumption is that unless we make things happen now we’ll miss out. We want the update, the offer, the opportunity ahead of everyone else. We’re told to grow up, take exams early, be ahead of the curve, be on the ball, be always available, shoe-horn in another meeting into an already full schedule and so it goes on and on. And then there is e=mc2! More on that later.
